With a reputation by our customers, as being the best paint store in Townsville, that reputation has been earned on knowledge, experience and the quality of the products we sell.

began in a humble warehouse in Hirst Street by Gordon Butcher, who had many years experience working for Walpamur paints before it became part of the Orica group of paint brands. With business growth he moved to a double shop frontage between the ANZ Hermit Park and Toyworld. In 1993, Shane and Janiene Murrell became the owners of Gordon Butchers Paint Barn.

With an eviction notice in 1999, due to Toyworld expansion, the store was moved to its current site at 256b Charters Towers Rd, as well as the warehouse behind the store in Hirst St where it all began.

With expansion and growth the business has evolved and is now it's paint and taken on brands that are exclusive to Townsville in Porters Original Paints, Resene Paints and Altex industrial and marine coatings. These brands offer a range of innovative and high quality durable products, colours and services to a range of customers from architects, specifiers, professional painters and the general public who are looking for something unique.

With 30 years experience in the paint industry Shane Murrell has the expertise to answer and solve any painting issue. And with the painting issues solved Janiene Murrell can help with all your colour selections and decorating issues as she is a qualified and experienced decorator with work experience over many years and many residential and commercial projects.
